Obituary of Maj. Glenn D. Adams, Ret.

Maj. Glenn D. Adams, Ret., Waverly, died Tuesday at the Hospice Unit of Mercy Hospital after an illness. His wife is the former Helen Chisholm. The couple celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in November.

Born in Rdynoldsdale, son of the late Howard G. and Mary Blattenberger Adams, he was a resident of the Waverly area since 1967. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and the Vietnam era. He served in the strategic Air Command for 16 years. His service included tours in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He was awarded the Air Force commendation with two Oak Leaf clusters. He was a member of the Church of Epiphany, Glenbur, where he served as a member of the Vestry and vsrious committees. He wwas also the co-author of the 75th anniversary history of the church. He was a graduate of Windber High School, received his bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University and his master's degree from Michigan State University. He also did post graduate work at North Western University, University of Virginia, air University (US Air Force) and Clarion University.He was educator at the Department of History, Michigan State University, instructor at the Air Corps Technical Training command, faculty member of Air Force education extension program, University of Maryland, and Keystone College Department of Social and Behavioral sciences. After retiring from teaching, he was appointed college historian and archiist emeritus at Keystone College. He wrote a History of Keystone and the Academy of Keystone College. During the 1997 commencement at Keystone College, he was awarded the Dr. David J. Gray award. He was also the author of Pioneers of Chestrnut Ridge, Bradford County,

Also surviving are two sons, Donald O., Dowingtown, and Steven G., Clarks Summit; a grand-daugher; and a niece and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Robert and a sister Edith Musselman.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in teh Church of Epiphany, Glenburn, to be conducted by the Rv. F. John Kelly III. Interment, Church of Epiphany Memorial Garden.

There will be no public calling hours.
